Wonders of the World in 2007. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan. Construction began
in 1631 and was completed in 1653. Shah Jahan became emperor in 1627. He had
three wifes, but he really only loved one and gave her the title Mumtaz Mahal, "The

Chosen One of the Palace." In 1631, she died after she gave birth to their 14 child.
Emperor Shah Jahan decided to build a structure, the Taj Mahal, for the memory of
his beloved wife. When you visit the Taj Mahal, you can learn more about its sad
love story. It cost millions of Rupees. Today, it is one of the most popular buildings
in the world for tourists. It is definitely worth - seeing.
